This is everything you need to know before your first post.
The community is part of the Wind God app. The person responsible for the service is Fritz Hoffmeister.

This address is our contact point for users and for authorities. A human reads it, not a machine. You may write to us in German or in English.
Minimum age 16. You confirm this when you set up your profile. We cannot verify your age, so we rely on what you tell us. If we learn that someone is younger, we block and delete the account.
Under 18 you need your parents' consent.
Reading works without an account. To write, send a photo, give praise, report or block, you need an account: sign in with Apple, with Google, or with email and password. With email you have to confirm your address first.
An account is personal. Do not pass on your credentials.
Write what you see at the spot, what you are planning, and what helps others. Not allowed:
Please do not share details about health, religion, political opinion or sex life in the chat that you do not want to make public.
A message is at most 500 characters. There is a short pause of a few seconds between two messages. Per day you can send 200 messages, 10 photos and 20 reports.
Photos are allowed if you took them yourself or hold the rights to them.
Recognisable people need to agree. That includes friends and people in the background. With children and young people under 18, do not do it at all. If you can be recognised in a picture and do not want that, write to us or use the report form (section 6): we remove the picture without further review.
Not allowed: nudity, sexual imagery, violence, injured people, accidents, the deceased, pictures that expose others.
Your device shrinks every photo before sending. Our server then re-encodes it and removes the location of the shot and the remaining image data from the file.
We moderate with automatic checks and with humans. The yardstick is these rules and the applicable law.
Automatically, before others see a post in a room:
If a check triggers, your post is visible to you alone and carries the note "under review". A human then looks at it and either releases it or removes it. We check nicknames and profile pictures the same way. A daily limit for messages, photos and reports protects against spam; once you reach it, you cannot write until the next day.
A check of texts by a language model is prepared but switched off. If we switch it on, we will say so here and in the privacy notice beforehand.
We do not check the content of private messages, and we do not read along. Only if the other person reports a message does the moderator see that reported message.
By humans: every report and every automatically hidden post is looked at by a human. A human always decides on blocking an account, never an automatic system.
Possible actions: post hidden, post removed, profile picture reset, temporary write block, private chat closed, account blocked (section 7).
Automatic checks get things wrong in both directions. They do not replace your own responsibility.
Reporting: long press a message or open a profile, then "Report". Pick a reason and add two sentences if you want. Report in good faith; it helps us even when you are not sure.
Reporting without an account or without the app: use the form at https://aeolus-windgod.com/report or email aeolus.windapp@googlemail.com. Tell us the room, the nickname and the approximate time so that we can find the post.
If several people report the same post, it disappears from view immediately until we have looked at it. We handle reports without undue delay and tell you what we decided. If a report from the app sits unhandled for more than 12 hours, the community may switch itself to "read only" until we have dealt with it.
Blocking: from then on you see nothing from that person, immediately and in all rooms. You can undo it in your profile. The blocked person is not told.
Anyone who deliberately abuses the report function loses it.
In a room you can offer a ride or look for one. You ask to join an offered ride, and you offer to take along someone who is looking. If the other side accepts, a private chat opens between the two of you only, and only for that ride. You cannot message someone out of the blue.
You arrange rides privately. Aeolus does not vet anyone, neither licence nor car nor person, and is not a party to your arrangement. Meet in a public place. Do not share an address, a phone number or money over the chat with someone you do not know.
Cost sharing only, no business. You may share the cost of the trip: all passengers together pay at most the running costs of the trip, as a guide at most 30 euro cents per kilometre. Rides for payment beyond that and commercial rides do not belong here. If you are under 18, only ride along if your parents agree.
Private messages follow the same rules as the room (section 3). We do not pre-check them and do not read along. If someone harasses you: report and block. If you report a message, the moderator sees that message. After blocking, neither of you can write to the other there any more.
Private messages disappear after 3 to 4 days, the chat two days after the day of the ride.
Depending on how serious it is: post hidden, post removed, profile picture reset, temporary write block, private chat closed, account blocked.
In every case we tell you in the app what we did, why, which section of these rules we rely on, and whether an automatic check or a human decided. You find this in your profile under "Moderation notices", even if your account is blocked.
Account block: for a serious or repeated breach we first block the account provisionally. You can respond by email within 14 days; then we make a final decision. In cases of crime or acute danger to others we block permanently at once.
Objection: you can object to any action: an email to aeolus.windapp@googlemail.com is enough and we will look again. You remain free to go to court.
We keep a copy of a reported or removed post as evidence so that we can substantiate the decision later. Details are in the privacy notice.
Messages and chat photos are marked for deletion after 3 days. The clean-up run is not exact to the day, so in practice they are gone after 3 to 4 days, text and picture together. After that nothing can be retrieved in the app.
You can delete your own message immediately at any time. Your profile, nickname and profile picture stay until you change them or delete the account.
You can delete it yourself: own profile, "Delete account". You have to sign in again for this. Deleted are your profile, your messages, your photos, your praise and attendance clicks, and your push subscriptions. Excepted is evidence about cases that ran against your account; we keep that for a limited time as proof (privacy notice).
You may not replace a blocked account with a new one.
What you write and photograph stays yours. You only allow us to display it in the app for as long as it is stored there and, in case of a report or an action against a post, to keep a copy as evidence. There is no further use: we do not sell your posts, do not advertise with them and do not pass them on, unless a legal obligation requires it.
You warrant that you hold the rights to what you send.
The community is an addition to the wind forecast and is free. Posts by others are their opinion, not ours. We do not check them for factual accuracy in advance.
Wind, water and weather remain your own responsibility. Never rely on a message in the app alone.
Our liability is unlimited for intent and gross negligence and for injury to life, body or health. For slight negligence we are liable only if we breach an essential duty that you may rely on, and then limited to the damage typically to be expected with a service like this. Otherwise liability is excluded. Statutory liability that cannot be excluded remains unaffected.
We try to keep the service running, but we do not owe permanent availability. We may temporarily set the community to "read only" or switch it off when safety, moderation or operations require it. If we shut it down for good, we will announce it in the app at least 14 days in advance.
We may change these rules. For an important change you will be shown them again the next time you open the community and will have to agree before you write again. If you do not agree, you can keep reading and delete your account at any time.
German law applies. If you live as a consumer in another country of the European Union, you additionally keep the protection of the mandatory provisions of your country of residence.
The German and the English version of these rules are equally binding.
